AP Raises US 2005 Rates by 2.3%; APTN by 4.4%Continuing its tradition of keeping rates for its co-operative owners –US newspapers -- as low as it can, The Associated Press has declared a 2.3% increase for 2005 in its rates for US subscribers to its general news and pictures services while increasing rates for specialized non-newspaper services such as AP Television News (APTN) and audio by 4.4%.The increases do not apply in the rest of the world where fixed increases are built usually into contracts, often based on a country’s inflation rate. The 2.3% assessment compares with 2.9% in 2004 – a particularly expensive year with the Olympic Games and the US Presidential elections.
