ftm Tickle File 10 August, 2009

The Tickle File is ftm's daily column of media news, complimenting the feature articles on major media issues. Tickle File items point out media happenings, from the oh-so serious to the not-so serious, that should not escape notice...in a shorter, more informal format.

We are able to offer this new service thanks to the great response to our Media Sleuth project in which you, our readers, are contributing media information happening in your countries that  have escaped the notice of the international media, or you are providing us information on covered events that others simply didn't know about. We invite more of you to become Media Sleuths. For more information click here.

Stumbling in ‘low visibility’

Outdoor ad giant JCDecaux reported first half 2009 profits dropped to €4.4 million on €924.5 million revenue (July 31).

"The visibility is low and unstable,” said CEO Jean-François Decaux in a statement. “In the absence of signs of improvement in market conditions, we anticipate in the third quarter a decline in our organic revenue roughly equivalent to that of the first half. "

In JCDecaux’ three sectors revenue from billboards (display) was down 21.1%, benches (urban furniture) down 15.5% and bus backs (transport) down 3.2%. (JMH)
